Biography
Vanathi Panneerselvam is an Advocate practicing before the Madras High Court, Tribunals and Commercial Courts with a core experience in areas of taxation and commercial litigation, arbitration and constitutional law.
Her legal experience includes high-stakes writ petitions concerning GST tax demands and classification issues before the Madras High Court. She has also assisted in litigation against government guidelines on broadcasting, fact check unit notifications, Customs demurrage levies and various indirect tax issues including GST, Customs, TNVAT, Service Tax and Excise.
Aside from litigation and advisory, Vanathi’s interests lie in gender justice and constitutional reforms, and the role of judiciary in modern democracy. She has previously served as a part of the editorial teams for the third edition of Commentary on the Constitution of India, Arvind P. Datar and a Festchrift in honor of Justice Rohinton Nariman. Vanathi has also co-authored and contributed to publications on Judicial Review, Federalism and the Constitution of India, and Gender Justice. She has also co-founded the Gender Studies Circle at her Alma Mater and serves an ICC external member in various organizations.
