Avinash Krishnan Ravi

Avinash, an alumnus of Amity Law School, Noida and University of Oxford is the firm’s Consultant for its Commercial, Corporate & Insolvency Practice. Avinash is known for his versatility. His experience and knowledge in varied fields of law cannot be overstated. His areas of practice include Company law, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) 2016, Arbitration, Intellectual Property Rights, Civil Law, Constitutional Law, Income Tax, Prevention of Money Laundering, Prevention of Corruption etc.

Avinash has also assisted Senior Counsel Mr. P.H. Arvindh Pandian in a number of cases in IBC including V. Ramakrishnan vs S.B.I., which led to the the introduction of Section 14(3) into the Code. In commercial practice, Avinash’s notable achievements include representing Jan Marsalek, COO of Wirecard in various litigations filed against him in Madras High Court.

He is also a Central Government Standing Counsel, who represents the Central Government in various high value arbitration related matters before the High Court and he also represents the Central Government in a number of important constitutional validity matters, including challenges to Section 462 of the Companies Act, 2013, challenge to notifications imposing penalties passed by plant Quarantine officers, etc. In his capacity as a Central Government Standing Counsel, he has represented various Ministries such as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Home Ministry etc.

In the Criminal Law front, he has assisted Mr. Justice L. Nageshwara Rao in various cases when his Lordship was practicing as a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India.

Key Works

Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code

  • Represented Resolution Professions in the insolvency proceedings of Orchid Pharma Ltd, Karur KCP Packaging Pvt. Ltd, Maharaja Theme Parks Bhatia Coke & Energy Ltd etc.,
  • Led takeover transactions of Empee Distilleries Ltd. by SNJ Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. before COC and NCLT and also successfully handled the consequent litigations arising out of it.
