Biography
Vadhana Bhaskar is an Advocate practising before the Madras High Court, various District Courts and Consumer Commissions with primary experience in the areas of criminal law, judicial review (writ jurisdiction) and consumer protection.
She regularly advises companies and represents on issues involving health law, more specifically, on medical ethics, medical negligence, telemedicine and home healthcare. She also serves as a Legal Expert Member in the Institutional Ethics Committee of MIOT International Hospital, Chennai.
Aside from being skilled at drafting both concise and complex contracts and policies in a wide range of subject-matters (service, employment & consultancy, lease & tenancy, parenting, privacy and technology), her areas of interest include questions of constitutional law, the conflict of laws, ADR, protection of minorities, death penalty jurisprudence and public policy. She endeavours to dedicate a section of her practice towards pro bono work. One of her notable cases includes filed on behalf of a same- sex couple resulted in the Madras High Court laying down extensive guidelines for the protection of the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, directing sensitisation and reform for the police, prisons, schools, media and medical fraternity.
